COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 11, 2026) – USA Shooting continued its momentum on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games with a standout performance at the 2026 ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Lonato, Italy. Competing against many of the world’s top shotgun athletes, Team USA returned home with two medals, highlighted by a historic world record performance from Vincent Hancock.
Hancock once again demonstrated why he is regarded as one of the greatest shotgun athletes in history, delivering a flawless performance to capture gold in Men’s Skeet. The five-time Olympic champion shot a perfect 36 out of 36 targets in the final, setting a new ISSF World Record while claiming his latest World Cup title.
Joining Hancock on the podium was teammate Christian Elliott, who earned the silver medal to complete a dominant American one-two finish in Men’s Skeet. The result showcased the depth of the U.S. program as two Team USA athletes stood atop the podium in one of the sport’s most competitive international fields.
The success extended well beyond the medals. Samantha Simonton and Dania Vizzi both advanced to the Women’s Skeet Final, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, while Rachel Tozier added another finals appearance for Team USA with a seventh-place finish in Women’s Trap.
“Lonato showcased exactly what makes our shotgun program so strong,” said Kelly Reisdorf, CEO of USA Shooting. “Vincent and Christian delivered an incredible one-two finish against one of the deepest fields in the world, but what excites me just as much is seeing five Americans reach finals. That depth is what keeps our program among the world’s best and positions us well as we continue building toward Los Angeles 2028.”
In addition to Team USA’s success on the range, three American Olympians were recognized for their lasting impact on the sport. Kayle Browning, Brian Burrows, and Glenn Eller were officially inducted into Trap Concaverde’s Wall of Olympic Medalists, a permanent installation honoring Olympic medalists who have helped shape the history of international shotgun shooting. Located at one of the world’s most iconic shotgun venues, the Wall preserves the handprints of Olympic medalists from around the globe, recognizing their achievements and lasting contributions to the sport. By adding their handprints alongside some of shooting’s greatest legends, Browning, Burrows, and Eller joined an exclusive group whose accomplishments continue to inspire future generations.
Lonato has long been regarded as one of international shotgun shooting’s premier venues, routinely attracting Olympic champions and World Championship medalists. With two podium finishes, five finals appearances, and three Olympians honored for their enduring legacy, Team USA once again demonstrated both the strength of its current roster and the tradition of excellence that continues to define American shotgun shooting.
